We returned from our Peruvian Odyssey at the end of September, so I apologise for the delay in responding to you.
In total, my husband and I spent 6 weeks in Peru. The first 2 weeks of our holiday were on the ‘tourist trail’ and were organised by Voxi (previously Viva).
I chose Voxi (previously Viva), after researching many on-line, and locally based NZ companies offering tours to South America. Initially I corresponded many times with Karel, who patiently and thoroughly answered my questions and clarified things for me. Voxi offered a tailor-made trip for the 2 of us, on the dates that worked for us. Many companies had tours leaving on dates that didn’t suit us. So, that’s why we chose Voxi. I was not experienced at organising an overseas trip to a foreign land on-line, as it had been sometime since we had travelled so far, and I was a little anxious about ‘trusting’ a travel-agent whom we had not met in person! Viva had a few customer feedbacks to read, but I still wasn’t sure if my payments would be safe, and that Viva would deliver what they promised – despite many reassurances from you and Karel. I felt I had to take a gamble!
I am very pleased to say that the trip went really well. We saw everything we wanted to. We were a little pressured with the time-frame, and got a little tired, but that was our choice. The standard of the hotels was excellent, and made a huge difference to our wellbeing. It was wonderful being met at the airport/hotel/bus station, and being taken to our destination, especially as we spoke very little Spanish. It was a great introduction to Peru. All the guides were very good. We had a couple of small hitches, but overall the holiday organised by Viva was excellent. We would probably choose to stay at Aguas Calientes for a night, if we went to Machu Picchu again, as it was a 16 hour day from Cusco to MP and back to Cusco – very tiring!
So thankyou again.
